On our final day in London we found the perfect place to stop for "gelato". On London's first drizzly day this month, The Little Green Hut sold the icy treats we were looking for. Trying to escape the 5 minutes of rain we've experienced since being here, we sheltered in the hopes of Cornetto's being the nostalgic start to our gelato adventure. Prices in London have been stupidly high so far, and these creamy treats were the perfect end to a perfect stay. We ordered one chocolate and one mint, only to be told that they didn't restock due to the weather. No worries, two mint then. No luck. We are able to order one mint and one classic, but they didn't take card and we were fresh out of cash. Shit.
Our first thought of course is, how will we please our millions of Gelato infatuated followers? We are sorry to say, we nearly had to walk away. We pushed them back over the counter and turned to the rain. Luckily for you, the most curly haired, ginger framed, Cornetto custodian pushed them back over the counter.
"Don't worry about it" she assured us, "you can shelter here".
The love we've received from London itself is out of cone-trol. We enjoyed our free Cornetto's, sheltered from the rain, in the middle of a city that we've never been.
...and so it is with sugared bellies we continue on our drizzly walk to Paris.
